Sage Grouse / Sharp-Tailed Grouse Hybrid

name this bird Okay Kiddies, since you were all getting a bit too cocky on the last few posts of “name that critter” I decided to make this one a bit more difficult. This picture was taken by a very good friend of mine who has kindly let me use it. So now for the big question…what type of bird is this and where is it found. This one was a bit tough but some of you got very close, it is a:

Sage Grouse / Sharp Tailed Grouse Hybrid

This picture was taken my good friend Erika Peckham a Wyoming Game and Fish Department wildlife biologist. She stated “It exhibited physical attributes and courtship behaviors of both species, but it didn’t represent either species very well.”

    It’s a prairie chicken and the pic was taken Minnesota.

    It’s a prarie chicken probably in Kansas or Nebraska judging by the cow pie near it
