Sage Grouse / Sharp-Tailed Grouse Hybrid

name this bird Okay Kiddies, since you were all getting a bit too cocky on the last few posts of "name that critter" I decided to make this one a bit more difficult. This picture was taken by a very good friend of mine who has kindly let me use it. So now for the big question...what type of bird is this and where is it found. Sage Grouse / Sharp Tailed Grouse Hybrid

This picture was taken my good friend Erika Peckham a Wyoming Game and Fish Department wildlife biologist. She stated “It exhibited physical attributes and courtship behaviors of both species, but it didn’t represent either species very well.”

    It’s a prarie chicken probably in Kansas or Nebraska judging by the cow pie near it
